50.000 Euros for aid to Ukraine and support for migrants

Düsseldorf, 01.04.2022 – This year, “Wir für Düsseldorf” (We for Düsseldorf), the fundraising initiative founded by the entrepreneur Josef Klüh, is supporting associations and projects in Düsseldorf that are dedicated to supporting the welfare of migrants. Due to the current development in Ukraine, which poses great challenges for charitable associations, Klüh has also selected other initiatives which specifically care for Ukrainian war refugees, and doubled the usual donation to 50,000 Euros this time.

Frank Theobald, Chairman of the Klüh Management Board: “As a Düsseldorf-based family-run company, we stand for a peaceful Europe with cultural diversity and respectful interaction with one another. In view of the current developments in Ukraine, we would like to express our solidarity and to help the people who are being forced to leave their homes as much as we can. Through our choice of projects this year, we are focusing on Dusseldorf-based aid and integration measures for Ukrainian refugees and migrants aimed at giving them a perspective for the future and facilitating their integration.”

The management of the Klüh holding company and the “Wir für Düsseldorf” jury - which comprises Dr. Vera Geisel, Wolfgang Rolshoven and Josef Klüh – have decided to support the following associations and projects this year:

  • Deutsche Rote Kreuz Kreisverband Düsseldorf e.V. (German Red Cross district association Düsseldorf)
  • Ukrainian Greek Catholic Community
  • Flüchtlinge willkommen in Düsseldorf e.V. (Refugees Welcome to Düsseldorf)
  • Start With A Friend
  • Hispi – helping with language integration
  • Mentoring project MentForMigra

For Klüh, responsibility has always been among the company values. Responsibility towards the employees, the environment, the community and the market. These are also the four pillars on which Klüh’s corporate responsibility strategy is built. “Wir für Düsseldorf” is part of Klüh’s corporate commitment to the community.

Note: The initiative “Wir für Düsseldorf” is not to be confused with the Klüh Foundation for the Promotion of Innovation in Science and Research, which has awarded more than 800,000 Euros since 1986.
