Klüh Catering strengthens its presence in the DUS Airport Lounges

Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH has agreed an early extension to its partnership with Klüh Catering through to 2028. The multi-service provider will therefore continue to be responsible for the catering operations in the lounges at North Rhine-Westphalia’s largest airport. The contract includes the newly designed DUS Rhein Lounge, the DUS Sky Lounge and the exclusive DUS VIP Lounge, which has also been redesigned.

Klüh Catering has been operating at Düsseldorf Airport since 1 March 2018. With this early contract extension through to 2028, both partners are continuing their long-standing collaboration and strategically developing the lounge experience at the venue with an expanded range of services. In total, around 70 employees work in the various lounges, ensuring high-quality service, smooth operations, and a contemporary quality of stay for travellers every day.

Particular attention is focused on the new DUS Rhein Lounge at Pier B. Spanning a total of around 935 square metres, the lounge offers various areas for relaxing, dining or working, thereby creating a high-quality airport experience. The new space and service concept combines contemporary design with a significantly enhanced quality of stay for both business and leisure travellers.

A central element of the new lounge concept is the comprehensively revised food and drink service “A Taste of Düsseldorf”. It features a carefully curated selection of high-quality dishes and contemporary service. Guests can view the dishes directly at their table using a digital menu accessible via a QR code and follow the menu recommendations. Around 20 dishes are offered across various ranges – including vegetarian, vegan and lactose-free options – complemented by regional and seasonal specialities as well as international cuisine.

As part of the restructuring, the DUS Sky Lounge has also been given an enhanced catering concept. The aim is to provide a varied and high-quality range that caters to differing tastes. In addition to hot and cold dishes, the menu includes soups, a salad bar, a dessert station and locally roasted coffee. Regular promotions and changing culinary highlights offer added variety, particularly for frequent flyers.

The exclusive DUSVIP Lounge complements the overall concept with a particularly individual premium offer. There, guests can enjoy specially customised dishes and personalised service on request.

Throughout its catering operations at Düsseldorf Airport, Klüh Catering consistently prioritises digital and sustainable processes. In addition to organic quality, Fairtrade certification and animal welfare criteria, regional products such as coffee from Bazzar, Füchsen Alt beer, Killepitsch liqueur and baked goods from Bolten play an important role in the product selection.

“With Klüh Catering, we are continuing our collaboration with a partner that has met our high standards of quality, service and innovation for many years,” says Lars Redeligx, CEO of Düsseldorf Airport. “Particularly when redesigning our lounge areas, it was important for us to have an experienced service provider at our side that effectively combines modern catering concepts, digital solutions and a high-quality experience for our guests.”

“The early contract extension confirms our shared commitment to offering travellers at Düsseldorf Airport a contemporary, high-quality lounge experience,” explains Thorsten Greth. “Together with the airport, we have consistently developed the concepts for the various lounges further – from the quality of the food and drink to digital services and sustainable processes.”

Access to the DUS Airport Lounges can be booked directly through Düsseldorf Airport. In addition, the lounge is included in the ticket classes of various airlines and Priority Pass programmes.
